Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 5, 2026
This policy explains what Omfie collects, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We aim to collect the minimum we need to run the platform well.
What we collect
- Account & profile: your email and name, an optional profile picture, an optional approximate location (a city/area — see below), and your language preference. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and never stored by us in readable form.
- Content you create: communities, events, RSVPs, ratings and reviews, uploaded images, and community-page details (tagline, links, accent color).
- Activity for the service to work: event check-in records and door-scan logs (who checked whom in, and when), and in-app notifications.
- Device preferences: theme and accent color are stored in your browser (localStorage), not on our servers.
Location, handled carefully
If you tap “Use my location,” your browser asks your permission and we convert your coordinates into a city name only using a third-party lookup. Your exact GPS coordinates are used momentarily in your browser and are never sent to or stored by Omfie — we keep only the city text, which powers the “near you” sections. You can clear or change it any time in Settings.
Why we use it
- to run your account and show you the right things;
- to operate events — RSVPs, QR tickets, door check-in, rosters, and attendance history for organizers;
- to send in-app notifications and, if you opt in, ticket and reminder emails;
- to surface relevant events (near you, from communities you follow) and power search;
- to keep the platform safe and moderate reported content.
What organizers can see
When you RSVP to an event, its organizers and check-in staff can see your name, email, RSVP status, and check-in record for that event, and your attendance history within that community. This is core to how Omfie helps hosts re-engage regulars. Only RSVP to events run by people you’re comfortable sharing that with.
Who we share data with
We don’t sell your personal information. We share data with service providers that help us run Omfie, only as needed:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and image storage.
- Vercel — application hosting.
- Resend — sending ticket/reminder emails (only if email is enabled and you haven’t opted out).
- BigDataCloud — turning coordinates into a city name for the optional location feature (receives approximate coordinates from your browser at that moment; we send it nothing).
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of people using Omfie.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies strictly to keep you signed in (session cookies from our auth provider). We don’t use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Theme and accent choices are stored locally in your browser, not as cookies.
Retention
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your personal profile data; some content tied to events (for example, that an attendee checked in) may persist in an organizer’s records or in aggregate where there’s a legitimate reason, and backups may retain data for a limited period before rotating out.
Your choices & rights
- Access & update: edit your profile, location, and preferences in Settings.
- Emails: turn ticket/reminder emails off in Settings at any time.
- Delete: you can delete your account; contact us if you need help.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (access, correction, deletion, portability, objection). Reach out and we’ll help.
Security
Access to the database is restricted to Omfie’s server; tables are protected so they can’t be read directly from the public internet, connections are encrypted, and we apply standard security headers. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.
Children
Omfie isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we’ll remove it.
Changes
We’ll update this policy as Omfie evolves and revise the date above. Material changes will be highlighted where appropriate.
